Industrial Design & Creative Direction.

We work with leadership teams at pivotal moments, leveraging design as a competitive advantage to turn vision into outcomes, differentiation, and enterprise value for a contemporary market.
_

These are the moments when ambition outpaces capability, when innovation struggles to gain adoption, or when competitors begin to take market share. We help leadership use design with precision and intent, whether to shape new opportunities or to realign existing offerings with the expectations of a contemporary market.

Design restores relevance by reconnecting what an organization aims to achieve with what the market values today. It is the discipline that transforms opportunity into outcomes and intention into measurable value.

Todd Bracher represents a new generation of design professionals—industrial designer, creative director, strategic advisor, educator, and author who moves fluidly across disciplines, industries, and cultures. Known for his distinctive approach to design, Bracher has established himself as a thoughtful voice in translating complex problems into elegant solutions.

At the core of Bracher's practice is a methodology he has cultivated called 'Context-based design.' This approach acts as a bridge between business objectives and user needs, resulting in solutions that serve both effectively. By understanding these contextual elements deeply, he identifies the essential purpose of each object and strips away anything that doesn't serve that purpose. This approach yields designs that feel inevitable—solutions that endure beyond trends while addressing complex problems with clarity. His 2025 book, "Design in Context," explores this philosophy in depth, offering insights into how contextual understanding can drive innovation across disciplines and industries.

Todd was born in Long Island, New York, in 1974. He grew up in an environment of learning, craftsmanship, and exploration shaped by his mother, Lorraine, an educator; his father, Greg, a millworker; and his older brother, Scott, a naval aviator.

He began his formal training at Pratt Institute in New York in 1992, earning a degree in Industrial Design. A Fulbright Scholarship then took him to Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen in 1999 for his Master's in Interior and Furniture Design. From there, he embarked on a decade-long European journey that profoundly shaped his design sensibility. In 2001, he moved to Milan to pursue a career in design, establishing his Milan-based studio where he began his first significant collaborations and relationships with European manufacturers. By 2003, he relocated to Paris. While in Paris, he initiated his collaboration with the prestigious Danish brand Georg Jensen, eventually becoming their creative director in 2007. For some time, he also split his time between Paris and London, where he headed Tom Dixon's emerging brand. Throughout his decade in Europe, he collaborated with some of the world's top firms while absorbing the historical and material depth of European design.

In 2008, Bracher returned to New York City to establish his Brooklyn-based practice, bringing European sensibilities to the American business landscape. This cross-cultural fluency has become a hallmark of Studio Bracher's design and advisory work.

Throughout his career, Todd Bracher has created award-winning products for leading global brands like Herman Miller, 3M, Zanotta, and Issey Miyake. His work spans diverse sectors, from furniture to industrials to fashion, and different business types, from large multinationals to privately held companies to startups. With over two dozen patents and more than 200 products brought to market, he consistently transforms innovative ideas into commercially successful products.

Bracher's work extends beyond objects as he pioneers a new sector where science and design intersect. Believing that many of the world's global challenges already have solutions, he asserts it is design that's needed to help these innovations reach their full potential and scale successfully. This vision led him to found Betterlab—a research and design hub focused on science-based innovation—with the intention of creating impact at a global scale. In 2022, Fast Company recognized Betterlab with a World Changing Idea Award, affirming Bracher's conviction that the convergence of design, science, and strategy is essential to addressing today's complex challenges.

In addition to his work as a designer, Todd Bracher is deeply committed to sharing his design philosophy, particularly with emerging designers. He has lectured at design schools around the world. He has also shared his knowledge through appearances at major international events.

A distinct voice in contemporary design, Bracher has earned a reputation as a disciplined advocate for design that is quietly effective, deeply considered, and profoundly human.

He lives in Brooklyn and is the proud father of two sons, Ash and Adrian.
